Let's continue stories about last winter season with description of some skitour spots. This part will be about Gudauri, Geogia
So, I had two groups for 10 days each, with differets routs and weather. We had very different expierience - sometimes great powder, so it was almos impossible to ski, sometimes it was very hot and snow was covered by crust, sometimes we had funtastic untouched slopes.
Both programms were skitour ones - we walked a lot, and used ski lifts just for first day and for freeride after huge snawfalls, when skitour was very dangerous.
Avalanche hazard was very different - from low to very high and back to moderate, so nobody asked "why we have to do these resque trainings".
We did a lot of interesting routs, and look over another ones (and we'll try the next year, I'm sure).
In the evenings we had a lot of pleasant discussions with Sasha and Anton in their hostel WildGuru. Alex and I read several lectures about avalanches, what to do in case of accident, about staff, first aid, etc.

Skitour to the Lomisi monastery.
Ascend to the highest monastery in Georgian mountains. Great landscapes and possibility to touch the hispory.
The rout starts from Kvemo Mleta church. Ascend through the forest path, then to the crest and along the crest.
And don't forget to ask monks from Kvemo Mleta if it is necessary to take something to the monastery. If it is not too hard for you then take 2-3 kg to help the monks.
Descend goes along ascend rout in case of whiteout or high avalanche hazad or left to the acsend line.
Dangers: in upper part of the acsend there are several steep slopes and you need to be carefull, estimate stability of the slope and make right decision. On descend don't go to the first couloir left to the acsend line. There are rocks in its upper part.
Rout's length is more than 3000 m, elevation - 750 m.
Skitour to Kazbek mountain.
It is a long walk with very beautiful view.
In the beginning you can visit the tipical medieval georgian church of Gergeti Tsminda Sameba. It is build for red stone and is beautiful surrounded by high mountains.
Подъем длинный, но не сложный. Спуск не представляет технических сложностей и идет вдоль пути подъема.
Маршрут начинается в селе Гергети и идет через лес по дороге, ведущей к церкви Троицы. От плато двигаться вверх по хребту до очевидного траверса влево (по ходу движения) в долину и по ней вверх до перевала.
Длина маршрута около 5800 метров. Перепад маршрута примерно 1100 метров.
Скитур под Микетскую стену.
Еще один маршрут по снежным склонам северной экспозиции с видом на Гудаури.
Подъем и спуск достаточно сложны технически и требуют оценки лавинной опасности и уверенности в навыках катания.
Маршрут начинается от заброшенной деревни, расположенной в долине Арагви, ниже Гудаури.
Подъем сначала через деревню и далее пересекая склон вверх вправо на хребет. Движение по хребту через еще одну заброшенную деревню до плато под Микетской стеной.
Далее можно выбирать из нескольких вариантов: самый простой и короткий - на перевал в левой части стены, самый длинный и сложный - на вершину, несколько правее.
Спуск от перевала или вершины до плато и далее вниз в долину Арагви. Река переходится по снежному мосту или камням.
Не забудьте договориться с автотранспортом на обратную дорогу.
Длина маршрута около 5000 метров. Перепад маршрута примерно 1000 метров.
